Apple iPad 3 to get Retina Display and 8-megapixel camera in March
As the purported launch date of Apple’s latest and greatest tablet draws nearer, more details about the iPad 3 are leaking out, including an all-new camera
No matter how many Android tablets companies come out with, the Apple iPad is the king of the segment and the iPad 3 is deservedly the most highly anticipated upcoming slate. Several websites have said that the device has been rumoured to be unveiled on March 7, and as the date draws nearer, more details have emerged.
For starters, it’s almost confirmed that the iPad 3 will come with a Retina Display, doubling the current resolution. MacRumours is as reliable a source of Apple info as any other and they are staking their reputation on the iPad 3 having a 2048×1536 pixel resolution – twice the current 1024×768 pixels of the iPad 2. The screen size is expected to remain the same at 9.7 inches.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese blog Apple Daily has gotten their hands on a unit of the upcoming tablet and they claim the camera on the back has gotten a major upgrade. The current iPad 2 has only a 1.3-megapixel camera, but the new iPad 3 might have an 8-megapixel one like the iPhone 4S, bringing better photography and high-def video recording into the mix.
However, there still isn’t clarity on whether the device will be called the iPad 3 or the iPad 2S, or whether Apple will be releasing two types of tablets or one.
