Microsoft bringing Office to the iPad soon, spurns Android

The popular office suite of productivity software will be hitting Apple’s iPad tablet soon, but Microsoft has no love in its heart for Google’s Android platform, says a new report

For all the flak that Microsoft gets for its Windows operating system from both Linux and Apple fanboys (and a lot of it is deservedly so), almost everyone is in love with their wonderful Office suite. Microsoft’s Word, Excel and PowerPoint are arguably the most popular applications on personal computers, and the trio might soon be coming to the king of tablets, the Apple iPad.

The Daily is reporting that Microsoft will soon be submitting Office For iPad for approval to be listed in the App Store. The user interface is apparently similar to the OneNote application and features much of the new Metro style of design that will debut with Windows 8.

According to the hands-on demo, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations can be created and edited both offline as well as online. While the exact launch date for the app is not yet known, it might just be within the next few weeks.

Also, Microsoft is not considering making a version of the Office suite for Google’s Android operating system, sources said. A pity, that…
