Elon Musk joins the race to stop the killer robots before they take over the world we live in.
In the recent days, everything is getting around the robotics. Previously, the same robotics was like a distant fruit. Now, everything is so close and possible.
Experts released letter against killer robots; Asks UN to ban autonomous weapons:
Recently, there are some alarming warnings from experts around the world. The focus is one thing – to stop the killer robots.
Call to ban autonomous weapons:
In the near past, there were calls to [ban the autonomous weapons. The robot makers are the one who is very keen about banning the killer ones. This shook the world to think about what makes these research people talk against a result of research. The answer is that today’s Artificial intelligence and machine learning is capable of outsmarting men.
This won’t take long for this Artificial intelligence fed robots to turn against men. along with the 116 founders of robotics and artificial intelligence companies who are asking United Nations to ban autonomous weapons, now joins Tesla.
Letter from the experts:
The experts in the field are already aware of the consequences that the world may have to face. They have been talking about the loose thread in the robotics all these days. Now, they have chosen to give out an open letter. The letter reads:
“Lethal autonomous weapons threaten to become the third revolution in warfare. Once developed, they will permit armed conflict to be fought on a scale greater than ever, and at timescales faster than humans can comprehend. These can be weapons of terror, weapons that despots and terrorists use against innocent populations, and weapons hacked to behave in undesirable ways.”
Views of experts:
Ryan Gariepy, the founder of Clearpath Robotics, is the first person to sign the letter. He says that Autonomous weapons are no more a myth or nothing under development. They are almost here. They are not in the talking phase but are already well done and ready to move into the society. Gariepy is worried that the autonomous weapons can cause harm to innocent people. The capacity of harming is quite high and can happen instantly.
On the other hand, Elon Musk, the maker of many robotic evolutions is against this autonomous weapons for a few years now. Musk says autonomous weapons are, “potentially more dangerous than nukes.”
This came in the Artificial Intelligence conference in Melbourne.
