iPhone 8, iPhone 7S and 7S Plus: Apple to spot its tenth anniversary is planning to release Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 7S and 7S Plus. Manufacturers are making only the minor upgrades on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and releasing the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus. Ming Chi-Kuo is the KGI Securities analyst. He said that Apple iPhone 8 features the 5.8-inch edge-to-edge OLED display. Apple did not change the display in the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus they are using the same as their predecessors’ 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LCD panels.

iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone Edition or Apple Phone?

Apple named its new smartphones like iPhone 8, iPhone 7S and 7S Plus. Some rumors are saying that as it is the tenth anniversary, the manufacturers may call it as iPhone X (where X means 10 in Roman numerals). Retailers think they may name it as iPhone Edition as it the 10th-anniversary edition device. Zach Epstein of BGR says that Apple will finally change the naming pattern for iPhones in this year 2017.

Zach’s logic may be correct because the future versions of iPhone 7S are iPhone 8. If they name the present phone as iPhone 8, what they will call for the successors of iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus.

The name which makes sense is the iPhone X as it indicates the Apple’s tenth anniversary. According to the Japanese blog, Max Otakara Apple may call the new smartphone as iPhone Edition.

Some leaks say Apple will move away from the iPhone brand and they will name it as ‘Apple Phone.’

Manufacturers are saying that these smartphones include the augmented reality features which lead to a significant paradigm shift. These new inventions may lay a path for the next revolution in computing.

Ming-Chi Kuo’s big predictions for iPhone 8

In research, the Ming-Chi Kuo got several predictions on the tentative names. As per the Analyst, this phone may have the ‘highest screen-to-body ratio.

Apple may release this smartphone with the edge-to-edge OLED display, and it won’t have the side bezels. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 screen-to-body ratio is above 80%, and the iPhone 8’s rate is above 90%.

The phone may not contain the physical home button. For that, Kuo said Apple is facing problems to integrate the Touch ID fingerprint sensor into the display. The yield rates got reduced below the satisfactory level due to the in-display fingerprint solution.

If Apple failed to solve the issues, it might integrate the biometric method of security such as facial recognition and iris scanner.

The Analyst said that as a part of its anniversary Apple might include the 3D sensing for the facial recognition. They may improve the selfie quality. Apple’s new phones iPhone 8 which feature the 5.5-inch and iPhone 7S Plus uses the 3GB RAM. The iPhone 7S may pack the 2GB RAM. Manufacturers will make this phones available to the users in two different storage options like 64GB and 256GB. A 32GB and 128GB are not present in these smartphones.

Manufacturers may release these smartphones only in the fewer color options. They may launch the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus in September. They may ramp up the iPhone 8 in October/November. The analyst believes that Apple will release all the three phones in September.

Apple to invest in LG Display to secure OLED supply

The Korean site ‘The Korea Herald’ stated that to ensure the OLED panels supply Apple had spent on the LG screen. Still, it is unclear whether the LG will provide the OLED panels for the iPhone 8 or the 2018 boards. The Cupertino company invested $1.75 to $2.62 billion in the LG Display’s OLED production line. They are exclusively dedicated to Apple only.

DigTimes said that Samsung Display is facing problems while producing the OLED panels for the sake of iPhone 8. Samsung has to supply 70 million OLED units to the Apple in this year. Korean company may provide only 3-4 billion OLED panels by the end of September, and it may affect the sales of the iPhone 8.

Apple iPhone 8 to feature wireless charging

iPhone 8 may sport the wireless charging, and it is unclear whether it will support the inductive wireless charging or not. A few days ago, one developer had seen the wireless charging references in the Apple’s iOS 11 code. Currently, the same is now present in the beta stage.

The iOS 11 sound file ‘engage_power.caf’ is different from the iOS 10 ‘connect_power.caf.’ This new sound file may ensure more charge to the iPhone devices. One thing that is unclear is that whether the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus may support this feature or not.

Let’s wait until the release of iPhone 8, iPhone 7S and 7S Plus to get more details exactly.
