Amazon updates Echo Frames smart glasses with built-in Alexa voice assistant

Amazon has announced the updated Echo Frames smart glasses, which lack a built-in camera but have a microphone and directional speakers for interaction with the voice assistant Alexa. Unlike the previous model, the novelty will be available to everyone. In addition, the Echo Loop has been discontinued.

Like the original model, the new Echo Frames are designed to make interacting with Amazon Alexa more convenient and comfortable. Visually, the novelty is not much different from the previous model and also quite strongly resembles simple glasses with thicker temples on the sides. If necessary, the company will provide instructions on how to change lenses for people who wear glasses for medical reasons.

Echo Frames of the second generation can work in conjunction with a smartphone-based on Android or iOS. The built-in microphone and speakers are designed to interact with the Alexa voice assistant, similar to how it works with the Echo Buds wireless headphones. The glasses can also be used to listen to music or interact with any other voice assistant installed on the synchronized smartphone.

In addition to the announcement of new smart glasses, Amazon also announced the discontinuation of the Echo Loop ring with built-in Amazon Alexa. Despite the discontinuation of sales, the developers promise to provide support to existing Echo Loop users, at least in the near future.

As for the second-generation Echo Frames smart glasses, their price was $ 250, which is $ 70 more than the original model. Buyers will be able to choose between black, blue, and tortoiseshell body colors. Amazon is already accepting pre-orders for Echo Frames, with first shipments starting on December 10th.
