Apple took almost half of the tablet processor market
Strategy Analytics has presented the results of a study of the global market for processors for tablets: the industry has shown significant growth amid increasing demand for computer equipment in a pandemic.
It is reported that in the third quarter of 2020, the revenue of suppliers of chips for tablet computers amounted to $ 778 million, which is 28% higher than the result for the same period of 2019 when revenue in the designated area was approximately $ 608 million.
Apple is the undisputed leader: the Apple empire accounted for 46% of total revenue. In other words, the company controls almost half of the global tablet processor market in monetary terms.
Intel is in second place with 17%, and Qualcomm closes the top three with a result of 12%. In addition, MediaTek and Samsung LSI are among the top five suppliers.
Meanwhile, IDC reports that in 2020, 164.1 million tablets were sold worldwide, which is 13.6% more than in 2019. The share of Apple in piece terms was 32.5%. In second place is Samsung with 19.1%, while the bronze went to Huawei with a share of 9.8%.
