Apple’s next-generation smartphones will be called the iPhone 12S and outwardly close to the iPhone 12
Immediately after the launch of the iPhone 12 series smartphones, rumours about the next generation iPhone began to appear on the web. Previously it was assumed that they will be called the iPhone 13, however, according to recent rumours, the upcoming generation of Apple phones will be called the iPhone 12S.
The latest generation of Apple S-series smartphones is the iPhone XS. Prior to that, the company released the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5S and iPhone 6S, each of which offered a lot of major improvements over its predecessor, but retained the design of the previous generation. The first two could boast of significantly increased performance compared to the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4, respectively. The iPhone 5S, which retains the design of the “five” case, brought such innovations as a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and a 64-bit processor. The iPhone 6S debuted second-generation Touch ID, a pressure-sensitive touchscreen display, a new 12MP main camera sensor, and for the first time in three years, RAM has been increased from 1GB to 2GB.
As for the upcoming iPhone 12S, it is assumed that, in general, they will retain the design of their predecessors, but the notch in the display will be significantly reduced. This is expected to be achieved by using the latest Direct ToF technology instead of existing Face ID components, which will significantly reduce the size of the system. Additionally, the iPhone 12S Pro and Pro Max are credited with using Samsung’s LTPO screens with refresh rates that can range anywhere from 10Hz to 120Hz depending on usage scenario. Apple’s upcoming flagships will be based on the A15 Bionic chipset, built on TSMC’s improved 5nm process technology. It is expected that the presentation of the iPhone 12S will take place in September this year.
