Integration of the sensor layer to the encapsulation of the OLED display reduces its thickness and improves optical performance

According to the source, the Chinese company BOE has narrowed its technology gap with Samsung Display and LG Display. It has begun shipping OLED panels with on-cell touchscreens for the Huawei Mate 40 premium smartphones. These are samples for now, but serial shipments will begin soon as the Mate 40 series smartphones are slated for September-October.

In on-cell touch panels, the touchscreen is integrated into the panel up to the sealing layer (TFE). This allows you to reduce the thickness of the display and improve its optical characteristics compared to the approach when the touch screen in the form of a separate film is attached to the panel from the outside. Samsung, which has mastered this technology before, calls it Y-Octa or Youm On-Cell Touch AMOLED.
