Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Alpha Test Launch Trailer For All PS4 Owners

This weekend, all PS4 owners will be able to try Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer modes as part of the game’s alpha test. There is still less than 2 months left before the release of the direct sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops and a week before the start of beta testing, which will take place on other platforms.

Exclusive access to the game will be open for exactly two days, starting September 18, 20:00 Moscow time. It’s important to note that you don’t even need a PlayStation Plus subscription to run the game. The alpha version of the shooter is approximately 25 GB, and the pre-download is available from September 17, 18:00 Moscow time.

All alpha test participants will receive a Black Ops Cold War card. In addition to the two maps designed specifically for 6v6 team fights, alpha testing will also include three classic game modes: Teamfight, Assassination Confirmed, and Domination. In the latter, the capture zones will become much larger in comparison with the previous games in the series, which will provide more opportunities for cover and maneuvering during a raid on a capture point or its defense.

The developers gave a description of the two available maps: Miami and Satellite. In the first, Perseus hijacked a prison vehicle with DGI mercenaries, forcing the CIA to intervene and engage in combat on the sultry streets of Miami. In the midst of beautiful buildings and in the light of neon lights, a battle is about to break out, carried either inside buildings, then on city streets, and even on a sandy beach. Positions on the rooftops and at the windows of houses will be an excellent shelter for well-aimed shooters, who will see the streets and beaches of the city at a glance. Tourists’ favorite places will become the center of fierce close combat, and the underground parking and the beach will become the road to the rear of the enemy.

The second map spreads out in the middle of the Angolan desert, where the American satellite KH-9 crashed. Soviet and American soldiers arrive on the battlefield, where the only sign of civilization is just the aforementioned satellite lying somewhere in the very center. Rocky slopes and arched passages will be an excellent cover, and after overcoming them, you can go to the enemy’s flank. The sand dunes on the opposite side of the map will save snipers from any kills with bursts and large-caliber weapons.

But that’s not all: players will also be able to appreciate the new “Supremacy, Combined Arms” mode. This is a new offshoot of the already familiar 6v6 mode, where teams of 12 players will have to engage in battle in even larger locations with an abundance of a variety of vehicles such as tanks, snowmobiles, jet skis and boats. As in the usual Domination mode, you will have to complete a series of missions to capture and defend the specified targets between the bases of both teams.

Two more maps will be available in the “Supremacy, Combined Arms Battle” mode: Armada and Crossroads. The first is dedicated to the events of 1984: American and Soviet troops arrive in the North Atlantic Ocean in search of a sunken nuclear submarine. Fierce battles are unfolding between the warring parties in open waters, and on each side, there are numerous ships, cables, ropes, and a variety of vehicles that will help to overcome the sea. The ship in the center of the map will become a hot spot for all types of confrontation, from close combat and sniper firefights from nearby ships to battles underwater.

The second map depicts the frozen Soviet wasteland, where NATO forces ambush a huge military convoy carrying ICBMs. Tanks and snowmobiles will help the soldiers fight their way through the snowdrifts and snow-covered tundra – there are plenty of ideal hideouts for snipers. When planning a strategy, it should be borne in mind that both teams must throw all their forces into capturing a radio communication station, standing alone in the middle of a deadly trap – a frozen lake. And the path to the enemy’s flanks lies across a wobbly bridge stretching over an eerie gorge … this hole is definitely not for the timid fighters.

Traditional loadouts and streak kill will also be available. Before we start exploring maps and modes, the developers suggest paying attention to class creation, armory, and kill using episodes: some of this will be presented in the alpha version. By choosing a starter set of weapons, you can research field modifications. These elements will serve as excellent service to comrades or limit the possibilities of enemies. Jokers will also radically change the way a class works, providing a choice of four slots at once for maximum versatility.

Players will be able to choose among several sets of starter gear, for which the developers have manually selected weapons, attachments, upgrades, equipment, field modifications, and jokers. Streak kill points are retained even after the player dies, and you can get them by completing a kill streak or multiple targets.

The alpha version will show only a fraction of what awaits players in the multiplayer component of the Black Ops Cold War. More modes, locations, weapons, and vehicles are coming in the upcoming open beta (which will initially also be available exclusively on PS4) and the full game. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War goes on sale on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Series S on November 13.
