Call of Duty: Warzone may come to PS5 and Xbox Series X / S soon, but old Verdansk won’t return

In Call of Duty: Warzone Battle Royale, the map has been updated recently. Now it’s Verdansk 1984 – closer to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Simultaneously, the players wondered if it was planned to return the modern version of the map sometime in the future and release the shooter on Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5. Fortunately, both questions were answered by Raven Software employees in recent interviews.

Call of Duty: Warzone is currently playable on Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 for backward compatibility. At the beginning of 2020, Activision Blizzard told about plans to release a new game console, but so far not implemented them. But recently, studio Raven Software told Charlie Intel that the shooter’s tech team is hard at work on a version of the project for the Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5.

And to VG247, Raven Software Creative Director Amos Hodge told VG247 that the original Call of Duty: Warzone would never return. “The players don’t know this, but Verdansk of our day … They will never play it again. Verdonk of our days is gone and will not return, ”he said.

This is an unusual approach, as most battle royals have a rotation that includes both old and new maps. As for Verdansk, with the latest update, it has become a retro version of itself. Many landmarks and objects have been redesigned on the map, which is now made in the style of the eighties. Besides, several completely new areas have appeared in the game.
