QNAP TL-D800C – Desktop Model, TL-R1200C-RP – Rack Mount

QNAP Systems has released two chassis models for arrays of JBOD drives designed for connection using the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface. The desktop model TL-D800C is designed for eight drives, and the rack-mount model TL -R1200C-RP of the 3U form factor – for 12.

According to the manufacturer, these chassis can be used to expand the QNAP NAS, as well as external storage for PC and NAS. Arrays of the TL USB JBOD series offers a convenient option for cross-platform file sharing. Their advantages include versatility and flexibility. QNAP NAS users can use the TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP with their NAS, including configuring RAID settings and creating storage pools using the Storage and Snapshots application in QTS. Alternatively, the TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP can be used as an external NAS storage device. You can also consider each drive as separate external storage and use it as a removable drive. Windows, macOS, and Ubuntu users can use the QNAP JBOD Manager utility to quickly receive and view JBOD status information,

The chassis supports 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives with SATA 6 Gb / s. A feature of the model, designed for rack mounting, is the availability of a backup power source. A cable with USB-A and USB-C connectors is included with the TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP. Additionally, you can purchase a cable with two USB-C connectors.
