Elon Musk is ready to make Starlink a public company, but Tesla will not be able to become private

In the outgoing month, Tesla shares were included in the S&P 500 stock index, for which the company had to demonstrate no losses for five quarters in a row. Now the value of Tesla’s capitalization exceeds $ 600 billion, and this made its founder Elon Musk one of the richest people on the planet, but he admits that he would prefer to see his brainchild as a private company.

As Musk says on Twitter, the management of a public company imposes certain responsibilities, the execution of which takes a lot of time, and he would prefer to devote to his innovation. At this stage of development, as the head of Tesla regretfully admits, it cannot be made private.

But the nascent business of his aerospace company SpaceX, associated with the provision of high-speed satellite Internet services through the Starlink network, Elon Musk is ready to bring to a public offering as soon as the relevant activity allows generating revenue at a predictable pace. Now the Starlink satellite network already has more than 240 aircraft, the grouping is constantly expanding.

The parent company, SpaceX, remains private. By 2024, she expects to provide NASA with a spacecraft to deliver astronauts to the Moon, and one of the Japanese entrepreneurs expects to fly around the Moon in 2023 on the same spacecraft and return to Earth. By 2026, SpaceX should send Starship on an expedition to Mars.
