Good news for survivors on Windows 7. Google Chrome’s life extended until at least 2022

In early 2020, Google announced that full Chrome support for Windows 7 would continue for at least another 18 months – until July 15, 2021. As a reminder, for regular users, extended support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020. Support for Windows 7 is currently only available for a fee.

The IT giant has now announced it will extend Chrome support for Windows 7 “at least” until January 15, 2022, for enterprise customers. Thus, the lifespan of Chrome for Windows 7 has been extended by another six months. As noted by Google, it remains open to communication about any additional changes in the future, which provides additional hope for further extending Chrome’s life.

According to Google statistics, at the moment, 78% of companies have already completely switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10, 21% are in the process of making the transition, and 1% are planning to start “moving” shortly.
