Gord from the producer of The Witcher 3 incorporates mechanics from Frostpunk and Heroes of Might and Magic III
A week ago, Covenant. Dev studio, founded by a former producer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Stan Just, presented its first game called Gord. This is an adventure strategy set in a dark fantasy setting interspersed with Slavic mythology. The team leader spoke in more detail about the upcoming project in an interview with the attack.
According to Stan Just, the game will combine mechanics from Frostpunk, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Don’t Starve, and RimWorld. During the passage of the linear story campaign, which is divided into chapters, users will visit different maps located throughout the fictional world of Gord. Also, the project will be marked with custom scripts with procedurally generated levels.
The main goal in Gord is to build a personal fortress. In most tasks, users must collect resources, engage in construction and go on expeditions, which occur in real-time with an active pause. After completing the task, players will be able to improve their castle.
In the interview, Stan Just also talked about the smaller mechanics. For example, NPCs in Gord can master one of twelve professions; characters can be equipped with the equipment before expeditions, the indicator of faith acts similarly to mana. It is needed to activate spells, and the sanity of the unit should not be lowered to zero so that the fighters do not flee from the battlefield.
Gord will be released on PC (Steam) in 2022; an exact release date has yet to be announced.
