Gorilla Glass helps Samsung make flexible smartphones cheaper
The Galaxy Z Flip uses glass manufactured by Schott AG using technology developed by Dowoo Insys. Now, it is reported that Samsung is working with Corning to create another version of ultra-thin glass, which, among other things, will reduce production costs and, consequently, the cost of production.
There are no deadlines so far, but a Corning spokesman previously spoke of the possibility of producing such glass by the end of 2020. If the deadlines remain, then the first flexible Samsung smartphone with Corning protective glass will be released in 2021.
