Only Z87 remains in service
Last week, Intel announced the discontinuation of the Q87, C226, H81, QM87, and HM86 chipsets. These chipsets are most often associated with 4th generation Intel Core processors (Haswell) in the LGA 1150. They were announced in 2013 and are released using the outdated 32-nanometer Intel process technology.
These chipsets are budget variations of the Z87 model, targeted at different segments. So, the H81 chipset, which lacks some features, such as overclocking support, was designed for desktop PCs, Q87 was more often used in-office computers and their motherboards, QM87 and HM86 were optimized for mobile PCs, and the C226 chipset was designed for use in servers and workstations.
Orders for Q87, C226, H81, QM87 and HM86 can be made until March 31, 2021, and the date of shipment of the last batch is September 30, 2021, and it will not be possible to cancel or renew an order made after March 31.
