MediaTek MT7921AU Smart TV Processor Delivers Wi-Fi 6E Support
MediaTek has announced the MT7921AU processor for flagship smart TVs. The chip has already been adopted by the South Korean giant Samsung Electronics.
The product provides support for the Wi-Fi 6E wireless standard. Recall that this technology assumes operation in three frequency ranges: a 6 GHz band has been added to 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. The standard provides high performance in busy locations.
MediaTek notes that the MT7921AU platform enables wireless data transfer speeds up to 1.2 Gbps with low latency. This guarantees a stable internet connection in all conditions, which is important, for example, during gaming sessions.
Also, the new processor contains an integrated Bluetooth 5.2 controller. There is no information yet about the configuration of computing cores and other components of the product.
The world’s first MT7921AU smart TVs were Samsung’s 8K QLED Y21 panels. As the name implies, they correspond to the 8K format. They have a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, which is four times higher than 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels).
