Microsoft has announced the “Planetary Computer.”
As a key “chip” Microsoft presented the so-called “Planetary Computer.” This is a new open computing platform that will provide scientists, environmentalists, organizations and states with the ability to access Earth state data quickly.
“Planetary computer” is a platform with artificial intelligence based on the Microsoft Azure cloud, using machine learning to analyze data from various sources.
According to Microsoft, based on this information, it will be possible to monitor changes in the ecosystem and make more rational decisions on the use of natural resources. For example, track changes in forest size, assess flood risks, and more. Any person on the planet will be able to view, update or supplement this information.
Microsoft’s partner in the creation of the “Planetary Computer” will be Esri, specializing in geographic information systems.
