Microsoft started to force install new Edge on Windows 10 computers

In recent months, Microsoft has been actively promoting its updated Chromium-based Edge browser. The next step in this direction was the launch of a special update that forcibly installs Edge on computers running current versions of Windows 10. We are talking about the KB4576754 package, which is available for installation on PCs with Windows 10 versions 2004, 1909, 1903, and 1809.

According to reports, the update will remove the old version of Microsoft’s proprietary browser, replacing it with the new Edge. User data such as saved passwords will be automatically exported. The same goes for other elements related to the web browser. The new Edge will automatically be pinned to the taskbar, and its shortcut will be added to the desktop. It is also worth noting that after installing this update, users will no longer be able to uninstall Edge from the system using standard tools.

For those who continue to use Windows 10 (1803), Microsoft has released KB4576753, which will introduce similar changes, i.e. will add a new Edge to the system. It is worth noting that none of the updates mentioned are intended for computers on corporate networks using Windows Update for Business.

Many users did not like the fact that Microsoft decided to force the installation of the new Edge and prevent it from being removed. If you do not want to use this new browser, you can pause the installation of updates, try to uninstall it using the command line, or use some third-party tools.
