The function of performing different actions by tapping on the back of the smartphone is implemented at the system level in Android 11, which will officially launch later this year. According to reports, using this feature, users will be able to turn on the camera, launch Google Assistant, play or pause music, and more. Apple actually overtook Google, having managed to quickly implement the function of performing actions by tapping on the back of the case in iOS 14.

A study by enthusiasts of the beta versions of the MIUI 12 user interface revealed that developers from the Chinese company Xiaomi are working on implementing a similar function. According to the available data, users will be able to perform certain actions predefined in the settings by double or triple tapping on the back of the smartphone. The accompanying snapshot showing the settings menu indicates that currently, the ability to perform actions after tapping on the body of the device is limited to turning on the flashlight, activating the camera, launching the control center, or the notification menu, and taking a screenshot.

Since this function is still not available to a wide range of users, it can be assumed that by the time of its official launch it will receive more options in terms of customizing certain actions. Exactly when Xiaomi plans to make this tool public is still unknown.
