Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 fully electric dragster introduced
This week’s Ford Performance team unveiled a prototype Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 all-electric dragster . This is the first all-electric sports car. According to the automaker, the car will demonstrate the capabilities of electric transmission in one of the most difficult racing disciplines.
The number in the name of the machine indicates the power of the power plant in horsepower. It is expected that this power, coupled with a torque of approximately 1,500 N · m, will be enough to cover a quarter-mile (one of the main distances in drag racing, about 402 m) in less than eight and a half seconds. In this case, the speed at the end of the distance will reach 275 km / h.
The word Mustang in the name is related to the prototype with the all-electric SUV Ford Mustang Mach-E – the first all-electric Mustang family member in the company’s history, and Cobra Jet is the name of the legendary model that dominated dragster competitions in the late 1960s.
