Outriders launched on Steam three times more successful than Marvel’s Avengers, but there are enough problems

The co-op shooter Outriders from Square Enix and People Can Fly barely saw the light of day and is already celebrating its first successes – on Steam, the game turned out to be noticeably more popular than  Marvel’s Avengers, another release from a Japanese publisher of a similar focus.

According to SteamDB, in the first few hours of release, Outriders recorded nearly 112,000 people. This figure is confirmed by the official statistics of the Valve service.

For comparison: Marvel’s Avengers for the entire period of its stay on Steam (for more than six months) barely surpassed the mark of 31 thousand concurrent players – this happened the day after the premiere of the project.

This result allowed Outriders to break into the top 10 most played games on Steam at the moment. However, the top ten in this indicator for the entire creation of People Can Fly is still far away – about 300 thousand.

It is noteworthy that Outriders managed to overcome the mark of almost 112 thousand concurrent players amid serious technical problems. At launch, the game suffers from server fragility, crashes, freezes, and other troubles.

There have already been more than 3 thousand user reviews of Outriders on Steam, and as a result of these shortcomings, only 59% of reviews are positive: for many, the game refuses to work stably.

Outriders are available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia. Besides, on the day of release, the game was added to the Xbox Game Pass service library.
