According to the published render, the smartphone, codenamed Razr Odyssey, will receive a minor appearance update and will be very similar to the original Motorola Razr model presented in 2019. The main changes will concern technical characteristics.

It is already known that the novelty will be based on the Snapdragon 765G mobile chipset, which offers support for fast wireless 5G networks, will receive 256 GB of flash memory, as well as support for eSIM. The device is also expected to receive a 48MP main rear camera. It can be seen at the top of the image, where the smartphone is closed.

Unlike Samsung and Huawei, Motorola has opted for a more compact classic folding phone form factor. For comparison, the same Galaxy Fold and Mate X models from Samsung and Huawei, respectively, when opened, look more like small tablets than smartphones. However, Samsung also has another model, which looks more like a classic “clamshell” – Galaxy Z Flip. 

According to forecasts, the updated Motorola Razr with support for 5G networks will be officially unveiled in the coming months. If the company decides to sell the device for $ 1,500, as it did with the original model, it won’t be that easy to attract buyers. On the basis of the same Snapdragon 765G chip, on which the device will be built, works, for example, the recently presented “mid-range” OnePlus Nord, which is estimated by the manufacturer at € 399.

Besides, for one and a half thousand dollars, Motorola’s competitors can offer much more interesting solutions, including folding ones. For example, the recently unveiled foldable Galaxy Z Flip 5G is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 865 Plus platform. And in September, the release of the iPhone 12 or the same Galaxy Z Fold 2 is expected. On the other hand, the Razr series from Motorola has never been mass. These are, first of all, fashion devices, and only then – everything else.
