PlayStation 5 has enough power to play old games
Sony previously confirmed that the Sony PlayStation 5 game console will support games for the PlayStation 4, and not all, but the manufacturer promises to maximize the backward compatibility catalog. As for the games for PS3, PS2, and PSOne, then play them on the Sony PlayStation 5 will not work. Many believe this is a big flaw in the PS5 compared to the Xbox Series X, which will support games for all generations of Xbox.

Marc-Andre Jutras, a developer at Cradle Games, recently tried to explain why the PlayStation 5 is not compatible with old games. According to him, it is difficult in a simple way to obtain permission to play many old games on new systems.
It is very difficult for players to understand why on the PlayStation 5 it will not be possible to run games for PS3 or even PSOne. After all, if you use the existing emulators of these consoles, then the games today work very smoothly on modern computers. It is logical to expect that the new console can play them, even if at some points they will work imperfectly. But as a developer, I partly observe how the rules in the field of the intellectual property change. Some games are on the shelves, some companies no longer exist. Solving licensing issues is very difficult.
Thus, Marc-Andre Yutras confirmed that the PlayStation 5 is fully capable of playing games for all previous generations of the PlayStation, however, everything depends on digital rights and intellectual property.
