Samsung Galaxy S21 can be voice unlocked with Bixby Unlock

According to the latest information, Samsung plans to offer Bixby Voice as a biometric user authentication method for Galaxy S21 smartphones. These devices are expected to run the as-yet-unannounced One UI version out of the box.

As noted by the authoritative publication SamMobile, Bixby previously had the ability to set a voice password to unlock the smartphone hands-free. Ultimately, Samsung, for unknown reasons, decided to drop this feature. Now, with the release of One UI 3.1, the South Korean tech giant is bringing it back to its flagship smartphones. There is speculation that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S21 with significantly improved microphones to ensure Bixby Voice functions properly.

While voice unlocking may be of interest to many users, it is unlikely to provide a sufficiently high level of security. Samsung’s current smartphones already offer users face unlocking, but the security level of the solution is also very far from ideal since the system relies only on the front camera. Previously, the company equipped its phones with a retina scanner, which offered a fairly high level of security, but it was decided to abandon it in order to make smartphones frameless.
