This change applies to Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + models. The updates provided are based on the Android 10 operating system, which appeared on these smartphones in February last year. It’s worth noting that Samsung has already released a security patch for the Galaxy S9 + that dates back to April 2021. The update for this model came out earlier than for the more recent devices of the company.

Based on the updated schedule, the next update for the Galaxy S9 series smartphones will be available in July or August. Its predecessor, the Galaxy S8, is also updated on a quarterly basis and will likely move to two updates a year by next year.

Samsung has significantly improved the speed at which updates are released to its smartphones in recent years. At the same time, the company is trying to optimize the process, as a result of which older models receive updates less and less over time.
