Samsung to disable Galaxy Gear watches from 2021 smartphones

The only exceptions were Gear S2 and Gear S3

Samsung Electronics has announced sad news for users of its extensive Galaxy Gear line of wearable electronics. From next year, support for these devices will be discontinued in new smartphone models.

Samsung to disable Galaxy Gear watches from 2021 smartphones

Users have been notified of this via the Samsung Members app. According to the source, Samsung has warned that Galaxy Gear devices will not be able to be used with smartphones in 2021. Put, with the Galaxy S21 flagships as well as other new Samsung smartphones. 

We are talking about devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch ( review ), Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 ( review ), Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Neo, Samsung Gear S ( review ), and the Samsung Gear Fit smart bracelet ( review ). 

Interestingly, Samsung does not mention the Gear S2 and Gear S3 on its hit list. They will likely retain their compatibility with the company’s new products in 2021. Also, Samsung promises that the entire Galaxy Gear series will work with its 2020 smartphones.
