Apple and Samsung have 86% of the local smartphone market

Counterpoint Research has published a report on the Canadian smartphone market for the third quarter of 2020. During this period, shipments grew by 13%, and Apple and Samsung occupy 86% of the local smartphone market.

Six of the ten best-selling smartphones are iPhones. Apple took over half of Canada’s smartphone market

Apple leads the Canadian smartphone market with a 56% market share, followed by Samsung with a 33% market share. Even though the iPhone 12 was released in the fourth quarter, the company’s sales grew by 7%, and Samsung increased sales by 21%.

Six of the ten best-selling smartphones in Canada in the third quarter of this year are iPhones. The most popular smartphone was last year’s iPhone 11. Samsung smartphones took the remaining four places in the top ten.

LG, Google, and Motorola came in third, fourth, and fifth with 4%, 3%, and 3%, respectively.

In addition to different iPhone models, the following popular models are named: Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20 (including Galaxy S20 FE), Galaxy A51, LG Velvet 5G, LG K51, LG K41S, Pixel 4a, and Moto E (2020).
