PlayStation Store and PS Plus will continue to work
Sony has officially announced the closure of the office in Turkey and the cessation of operations. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the Istanbul branch was closed due to a “difficult business environment” for the TV and audio divisions.
However, the company clarified in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz that it will continue to support its customers as well as the PlayStation Store.
A representative from Sony Interactive Entertainment clarified that the company will continue to support gamers in the region without any changes to the PlayStation Store or PS Plus subscription.
Sony said in a statement: “Sony has optimized its scope of operations for TV and audio consumer products in Turkey due to the challenging business environment that is increasingly impacting profitability in these specific categories in Turkey. We are committed to continuing to provide customer support for these products. Turkey remains an important market for Sony and we will continue to develop our remaining activities in the region.”
Sony started operating in Turkey in 1990.
