Chinese manufacturer Oppo is considering launching a smartphone case that will provide users with a miniature QWERTY keyboard.

For example, the Nokia 9210 communicator was released 20 years ago; it already had a QWERTY keyboard that was not visible when folded. Also, quite a while, BlackBerry smartphones with a keyboard under the screen were popular. Motorola also released a keyboard in the form of Moto Mod for the Moto Z line.
At the end of 2018, Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications filed a patent to CNIPA, which was approved only at the end of April 2020. After that, the patent was included in the database for the development of a smartphone with a special cover for the phone. The documentation was released on April 24, 2020, after which the project was also included in the database of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
The patent describes a bookcase, which not only protects the screen when closed but also contains a QWERTY keyboard. This accessory is useful for users who often use a lot of smartphones to send text messages.
At the end of last year, the company announced that it was developing an “ecosystem of smart devices” in which a smartphone serves as an access key.
