Updated gaming laptop HP Omen 15 will receive AMD Ryzen 5000 and GeForce RTX 3060 processors
HP is preparing to release an updated model of the Omen 15 gaming laptop. Externally, the novelty is completely identical to the 2020 model. The main changes concerned the internal filling of the portable gaming system.
Last year, the model turned out to be quite important for the gaming laptop market, at least in terms of variety. She was one of the few who offered several models of AMD Ryzen 4000 processors at once, while most manufacturers equipped their laptops with Intel processors only. The updated version of the HP Omen 15 2021 will also offer Ryzen processors, but already of the 5000 series, up to the eight-core Ryzen 7 5800H model. Likely, 11th Gen Intel Core processors will also be available.
Last year’s version of the Ryzen-based laptop could be equipped with a GeForce RTX 2060 graphics subsystem. The Intel-based version was ready to offer a more powerful solution in a GeForce RTX 2070. The updated laptop model will receive a GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 GB of video memory. By the way, HP previously released a kind of transitional model based on 10th generation Intel Core processors, offering GeForce RTX 3070 graphics.
It is also reported that the HP Omen 15 version of 2021 will receive 16 GB of DDR4-3200 MHz RAM and a 512 GB NVMe SSD with support for the PCIe 3.0 bus. Currently, in the laptop segment, support for the PCIe 4.0 interface is present only on models based on Intel Tiger Lake-H. And this state of affairs will continue at least until the release of new AMD mobile chips codenamed Rembrandt.
The date of the announcement and the estimated cost of the new items have not been reported. The manufacturer will likely announce the laptop closer to the release of high-performance Tiger Lake-H processors, which, recall, Intel promised to release in the second quarter of this year.
