Venus Optics has released details on the Laowa Argus line of lenses, including four models with a maximum aperture of f / 0.95, designed for different photosystems. They all focus manually.

Venus Optics unveils four Argus lenses with f / 0.95 maximum aperture

The manufacturer held an online event dedicated to new products in China but did not have time to repeat it in other regions. The thematic sites were already full of leaks. As a result, it was decided not to make official presentations and publish the details without much fanfare.

The first model is the Laowa Argus 25mm F0.95 Micro Four Thirds system. It provides a field of view equivalent to a 50mm EGF on a full-frame sensor and consists of 14 elements in 8 groups, including one aspherical element, two ultra-low dispersion elements, and three high refractive index elements. The nine-blade aperture ranges from f / 0.95 to f / 16. The minimum focusing distance is 25 cm. Filters with a diameter of 62 mm can be attached to the lens. The largest diameter of the objective itself is 71 mm, length – 86 mm, weight – 570 g. This model should appear on sale in the fourth quarter at a price of about $ 530.

The Laowa Argus 33mm F0.95 lens is designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. It will be available in Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, Sony E, and Nikon Z mount versions. The lens consists of 14 elements in nine groups, including one aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and three high refractive index elements. The nine-blade aperture can be changed from f / 0.95 to f / 16. The minimum focusing distance is 35 cm. The lens is compatible with 62 mm filters. The largest diameter of the lens itself is 71.5 mm, length – 83 mm. The lens weighs 590 g. The sales start date for this model is set in the second quarter. The expected price is approximately $ 530.

The Laowa Argus 35mm F0.95 lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras comprises 14 elements in 9 groups, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion element, and 4 high refractive elements. 15 blades form its diaphragm. It can take values ​​in the range of f / 0.95-f / 16. The minimum focusing distance is 50 cm. The filter mounting diameter is 72 mm. The lens is 76.8mm in diameter and 103mm in length and weighs 755g. It will be offered with Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Sony E mounts starting in Q2 for about $ 910.

Closing the list is the Laowa Argus 45mm F0.95, also designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. This lens consists of 13 elements in nine groups, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion element, and one high refractive element. The 15-blade aperture can range from f / 0.95 to f / 16. The minimum focusing distance is 50 cm. The lens is compatible with 72 mm filters. The lens’s diameter is 76.8 mm, length – 110 mm, weight – 850 g. This lens is also planned to be produced in versions with mounts Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Sony E. It should appear on sale in the second quarter, but the price is not yet defined.
