Vivo showed a smartphone that can change the color of the case

The technology shown by the Chinese company is based on electrochromism. This is a phenomenon that allows the glass to change color and transparency when energized. It is worth noting that electrochromic glass is not entirely new. It is used in the manufacture of smart windows for cars and buildings.
Roughly speaking, this is a sandwich of two glass plates, two transparent electrode sheets with an electrochromic film between them, as well as an ionic conductor and an iconic film. When current is applied, the ions change their consistency, affecting the refraction of light, thereby exhibiting different colors.
The smartphone on which the technology was demonstrated was carefully disguised, however, it closely resembles the Vivo S7 5G. It is worth noting that the technology is characterized by extremely low power consumption, therefore it will not contribute to the heating of the smartphone and the rapid discharge of the battery. In addition, since the electrochromic glass itself is transparent, it provides even more personalization options.
