What to play for owners of PS5, Xbox Series X and S at the start of the consoles and on the eve of the New Year
There is very little left until the next generation consoles are released, and the 3DNews editors decided to collect in one material all the games that are waiting for buyers of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and S, starting from the day of the device launch until the New Year.
Let’s make a reservation right away that the benefits of backward compatibility will remain outside the brackets in the lists below: the upcoming Microsoft consoles will be able to run almost any game from the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and the new Sony device will offer access to more than 4 thousand projects from the PS4. This includes Cyberpunk 2077.
At the same time, many publishers decided to manually adapt their games for PS5, Xbox Series X, and S, and in some cases even give the upgrade to owners of versions for PS4 and Xbox One. We will not be left without such releases.
Thus, the actual starting games (new or adapted from the previous generation) for the Xbox Series X and S have 31, while the PlayStation 5 has almost a third less – 21.
However, owners of PS5, Xbox Series X, and S won’t have to be content with starting games alone – on the eve of the New Year, almost three dozen more projects will visit the upcoming consoles.
For 2021, a large number of blockbusters for the next generation consoles are announced – Resident Evil Village, Halo Infinite, the next part of God of War, and others. But for now, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with what the outgoing year has to offer.
