Fitness trackers including Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Amazfit Band 5 may soon receive new firmware with this feature. This is evidenced by the “evidence” found in the code of the proprietary Mi Fit application. But they were noticed by the thematic resource AndroidTR and even managed to get screenshots.
According to the source, the temperature measurement function may appear in the form of a firmware update for almost the entire series of Xiaomi smart bracelets – Mi Band 2, Mi Band 3, Mi Band 4 and Mi Band 5, as well as the new Huami bracelet – Amazfit Band 5.
Since the bracelets do not have the necessary hardware tools for measuring the temperature, they will rely on the pulse and calculate the temperature according to Liebermeister’s law. For greater accuracy, the bracelets will need to be calibrated by measuring the temperature using a conventional thermometer of one type or another. Xiaomi will provide instructions for the entire procedure.
Note that Huami is a contract manufacturer of Xiaomi Mi Band fitness bracelets, but it is also known for its own brand of wearable electronics, Amazfit.
