Xiaomi will release a flexible smartphone with a front camera hidden under the display
The Chinese company Xiaomi, according to Internet sources, is developing two flagship smartphones – K8 and J18s. It is claimed that these will be the first Xiaomi devices equipped with a camera hidden behind the display.
The J18s is the second flexible Xiaomi smartphone after the Mi Mix Fold (shown in the images). The latter is equipped with a flexible 8.01-inch screen with a resolution of 2480 × 1860 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz and an external 6.52-inch display with a resolution of 2520 × 840 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The Snapdragon 888 processor is used.
The upcoming Xiaomi J18s smartphone will reportedly receive a flexible screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It has been suggested that the new product may become an improved version of the Mi Mix Fold.
The upcoming device is credited with having a triple camera with a 108-megapixel main sensor, a 3x optical zoom unit, and a module with wide-angle optics.
There is practically no information about the characteristics of the K8 model at the moment. It will likely receive the classic monoblock form factor with a subscreen selfie camera. The announcement of new products may take place in the current or next quarter.
According to IDC estimates, 345.5 million smartphones were sold globally in the first quarter of this year. This is 25.5% more compared to last year’s result. Xiaomi, with a share of 14.1%, took third place in the ranking of the leading suppliers.
