The video shows that compared with the previous part of the series, the details of the characters have been significantly improved. And the trailer’s slogan “It hits different” appears to be 2K Games’ attempt to highlight the changes expected in the game.

In 2020, the WWE 2K series skipped its annual release due to the disastrous launch of WWE 2K20. This was the first full-fledged debut of Visual Concepts studio, and they did not cope with the project. WWE 2K20 received one of the lowest Metacritic ratings in 2K Games history. The main complaints were a huge number of technical problems.

Last year, 2K Games hired former Double Helix head Patrick Gilmore to lead WWE2K and see that the series  “re-focused” on quality. On Reddit, Gilmore revealed the first details of his plans for WWE 2K22 last summer and told fans to expect “significant gameplay development in the next installment.
