This is an engineering sample of the new Epyc

The release of Ryzen processors on the Zen 5 architecture is still quite far away, but the first rumors and leaks have already begun to appear on the Web. In particular, the author of the Moore’s Law is Dead channel posted a screenshot, where you can see, presumably, the result of an engineering sample of the new AMD CPU in Cinebench R23.

There is not much data yet, but you can see that we are talking about a two-processor system, where each CPU has 64 cores. Judging by the two-socket system and the huge number of cores, we are talking about a server CPU. Such a system scores over 123,000 points in the benchmark.

It is rather difficult to evaluate this result. On the one hand, the heavily overclocked 32-core Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX scores even more, on the other hand, a pair of the latest 96-core Epyc 9654 scores under 110,000 points, and this is when overclocked. Of course, it is better to focus on the second result, since Threadripper still offers much higher frequencies, and overclocking, which is in question in the case of this CPU, involves the use of liquid nitrogen.

Thus, two 64-core new generation Epycs, even in the status of engineering samples, outperform two 96-core Epyc Genoas by about 10%.

The software also lists frequencies up to 3.85 GHz, which is normal for Epyc, and cache sizes: 10 MB for L1 cache, 128 MB for L2, and 512 MB for L3.
