“Crooked Joe Biden’s Department of Justice secretly attacked my account”

Former US President Donald Trump called the secret transfer to the prosecutor’s office of access to his account on the social network Twitter (now X) an unprecedented infringement on his constitutional rights.

Court filings were released on Wednesday revealing that earlier this year, Twitter was required to provide Justice Department officials with data and records related to the @realDonaldTrump account. The company complied, albeit belatedly, for which it was fined $350,000.

A flagrant attack on my civil rights

“Just found out that rogue Joe Biden’s Justice Department secretly attacked my Twitter account in an attempt to keep me unaware of this egregious attack on my civil rights,” Trump tweeted on Truth Social. “Nothing like this has ever happened. Is the First Amendment (to the constitution protecting free speech) still in effect?

Trump has been accused of interfering with a peaceful transition of power following the 2020 presidential election, when Trump lost to Joe Biden. At the same time, the court, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, banned Twitter from disclosing information about the existence of the warrant.

Trump’s account was suspended after his supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. After Elon Musk bought Twitter, the account was restored, but the ex-president refuses to return there.
