The car traveled about 40 thousand kilometers
Mitch Damkey, an American car owner, shared his experience of owning a Rivian R1T electric pickup truck on his YouTube channel. Due to numerous breakdowns, he was forced to part with the car just 15 months after purchase, but the manufacturer returned him the full cost of the car, which had already traveled about 40 thousand kilometers. As a result, the author was not disappointed in either the brand or the model.
Using the Rivian R1T pickup truck on a farm to tow trailers and haul tools was a bit of a test, as various powertrain issues required him to call on a tow truck four times.
Mitch praises Rivian’s customer service, noting the efficiency in arranging for towing, paying for a taxi home, and providing a temporary vehicle for each breakdown. Despite all the difficulties, he decided to part with the R1T only after having to rent the car for as much as 45 days over the past three to four months. Since visits to the service center did not lead to the elimination of all the shortcomings, the manufacturer agreed to buy the pickup truck at full price.

Damki believes that his situation is rather an exception. He emphasizes that his car was from the first batch and expresses confidence that the young company will learn from its mistakes.
In the list of advantages of an electric pickup truck, Mitch highlights the presence of sockets in the body and the Gear Tunnel – a compartment for transporting things in the rear of the cab, which can also serve as a step. Some clients, however, do not share his positive attitude towards the company. The owner of an R1S, for example, waited three whole years for his car, but encountered a breakdown after two days of use. At the same time, he is satisfied with the car itself, but is dissatisfied with the customer service.
