Trump “red” – in large amounts of memory
Sasa Marinkovic, chief marketer for AMD gaming products and solutions, posted a picture on Twitter that is designed to clearly show the advantage of “red” 3D accelerators in comparison with Nvidia models. The ratio of memory capacity and price is taken as a basis here.
Recently, AMD has been actively reducing the cost of its 3D accelerators, as a result of which they have indeed become more attractive to consumers. But what makes them even more attractive is the large amount of memory required by the latest games.
There is nothing special for Nvidia to cover here: in mid-range models, the company is in no hurry to increase the amount of memory, and in the GeForce RTX 40 lines, it severely cuts the bus, which further limits the memory bandwidth.
AMD clearly demonstrated the advantage of its accelerators over Nvidia models
Model-specific: In the US, the Radeon RX 6800 with 16GB of memory has dropped below the $500 mark (to $499, but nonetheless), while the GeForce RTX 3070 with 8GB of memory costs $549.
Or another example: the Radeon RX 6950 XT is now $649 in the US, and the GeForce RTX 4070 is $599. At the same time, the ex-flagship AMD is faster than its competitor (by about 10%) and has more memory.
In general, if you do not have prejudices, then the “red” models look preferable. And here it is already in the power of Nvidia to change the situation if they start reducing prices the way AMD did.
