In addition, Epic Games’ Battle Royale Fortnite has been optimized – in DirectX 12 mode at maximum quality settings, the Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card provides an average of 12% better performance compared to the Radeon Software 20.8.1 driver. By the way, AMD recently released their map for Fortnite.

These are not all innovations – support for the Vulkan low-level graphics API has also been improved: added compatibility with the VK_EXT_extended_dynamic_state, VK_EXT_private_data, VK_EXT_image_robustness and VK_GOOGLE_user_type extensions.

Along with this, the developers have fixed a number of bugs:

• Mortal Shell crashes when opening the inventory window;
• Enabling HDR on some Radeon FreeSync 2 displays caused the refresh rate to be forced to match the minimum in games.
• Surviving Mars crashes or freezes when launched on Radeon RX 5000 graphics cards.
• eFootball PES 2020 crashes on launch on Radeon RX 5000 graphics accelerators.
• Radeon Overlay is not available on hybrid systems when playing Hyper Scape.
• intermittent stuttering in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive when applications like Discord are running in the background;
• YouTube stuck in Microsoft Edge and Chrome when playing on second display on systems with AMD Ryzen 7 3000 and Ryzen 4000 APUs.

AMD continues to work on known issues related to Project CARS 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Radeon FreeSync, VP9 playback in browsers, HDMI audio, HDMI Scaling, freezes on systems with Radeon RX 5000 graphics and improved sync, Radeon and HDR overlays.
