AMD To Release Special Edition Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black “Not For Everyone” Today
Today at 16:00 Moscow time, AMD will launch an exclusive sale of a special version of the Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics accelerator in the reference version, but in the new Midnight Black color. One of the members of the so-called “exclusive AMD Red Team” club told VideoCardz about this, whose members receive the latest company news and exclusive offers before others.
According to Andrew Khoi Nguyen, he received an email from AMD in which the manufacturer announced the upcoming launch of a special version of the Radeon RX 6800 XT in black. The casing of the cooling system of the original model is painted silver and gray.
The rest of the special version of the video card is no different from the usual one. It is based on GPU Navi 21 TX with 4608 stream processors, 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory, and 128 MB of Infinity Cache buffer memory. The card occupies 2.5 expansion slots in the PC case, has two 8-pin connectors for additional power, and consumes up to 300 watts. It is unknown whether the price of the special version of the Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black will differ from the price of the usual one, which is $ 649 on AMD.com.
Recall that at the start of sales of the Radeon RX 6000 series of video cards, the company also allowed AMD Red Team members to purchase new items earlier than others through its AMD.com store. This caused outrage among ordinary buyers who did not get the video cards since all the cards were sold out in a matter of minutes.
AMD’s letter regarding the launch of the Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black specifically states:
“Based on feedback and popular inquiries from our community, we have created a limited edition of the Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black graphics cards offering the same amazing performance levels as the very popular Radeon RX 6800 XT. This is an exclusive prior notice to members of the AMD Red Team. The number of available video cards will be limited.
The Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black graphics cards will only be available from the AMD.com store via the email link on April 7, 2021, from approximately 6:00 AM PT, 9:00 AM ET, from 3:00 PM CET. European time and from 21:00 Taiwan time. “
