The update is quite large, it adds the ability to share files between core Windows 11 and WSA. The update also includes a number of bug fixes and the usual Android security updates.

File sharing in the Windows Subsystem for Android was one of the top requests from Windows 11 users. WSA can now use custom Documents and Pictures folders. It simplifies many operations such as video or photo editing with Android apps.

The folder sharing feature is enabled by default and can be disabled by the user if desired. WSA will just see the Windows files as a memory stick. To access files, applications will need to display a system dialog asking for permission from the user.

At the same time, the Android subsystem still cannot “see” external devices and Windows system folders or other user folders. Also, .exe files cannot be exchanged between Windows and the Android subsystem.
