Presentation expected in September
Apple is having trouble mass-producing some components of the iPhone 15. While everything points to the iPhone 15 being announced in September, analyst Jeff Pu said that Apple is already cutting its production plan for new phones.
Jeff Pu told investors that Apple is expected to ship 77 million iPhone 15 units by the end of the year. The company was previously expected to ship around 83 million units of the iPhone 15. According to the analyst, there are two reasons for this.
First, supply issues can still affect mass production. Jeff Pu notes that Sony’s camera sensors, a new titanium bezel for the Pro models, and a new narrower bezel display could delay the production of the iPhone 15. Secondly, Apple has adjusted its sales estimates due to demand issues.
Apple fears low demand for iPhone 15
Rumor has it that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be more expensive than their predecessors, and this could lead to a decrease in demand: “Plan cuts before launch are not a positive signal, and a potential price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max could also reduce final demand.”
In the third quarter of fiscal year 2023, Apple reported a drop in iPhone revenue from $40.67 billion to $39.67 billion. Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company is selling fewer iPhones in the US, its main market, despite sales picking up in some other regions.
Bloomberg previously reported that Foxconn has started production of the iPhone 15 in India . Presumably, the iPhone 15 will receive a Retimer chip and Thunderbolt with speeds up to 40 Gb / s .
