Apple is developing new HomePod models with cameras and displays
In today’s article on discovering an unused temperature and humidity sensor in the HomePod mini design, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said that Apple is developing new HomePod devices equipped with cameras and rather large displays.
Apple is likely gearing up to enter the smart display market. The new devices, which will belong to the HomePod family, will compete with popular products such as Google Nest Hub Max, Amazon Echo Show, and Facebook Portal. The camera-equipped device is expected to enable Apple’s FaceTime video calling service and the ability to control Apple Home Kit-compatible devices.
The foodie warned that Apple might change its mind about releasing such a product, so there is no guarantee that the device’s final version will see the light of day. As a reminder, Apple announced earlier this month that it would discontinue full-size HomePods, focusing on the HomePod mini.
