Details from Bloomberg

Apple will announce new Macs within a few days. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the announcement will happen before the end of October.

He said that Apple is “planning to launch a new Mac product around the end of this month,” and noted that we could be talking about releasing an updated 24-inch iMac model. The current model launched in April 2021 and is the only current-generation Mac equipped with the M1 chip. Gurman has repeatedly stated that Apple’s next iMac will not have an M2 and will instead feature an M3 chip.

Gurman noted that Apple stores are currently out of stock of the iMac, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, with many configurations not expected to arrive until mid-November, which he believes is a clear sign that those three devices, something is about to happen. He added that Apple has made progress in releasing new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Although the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max were released in January, he believes that “an additional update in the same year would be unusual, but not incredible.”

Gurman believes the upcoming Mac announcement will take place on Monday, October 30, or Tuesday, October 31, followed by Apple’s earnings report on Thursday, November 2. He doesn’t expect any of the new Macs to feature major changes other than new processors. However, Gurman added that their displays could be slightly improved.

He said the next-generation MacBook Air models with M3 chips won’t be released until early 2024 and that a larger pro version of the iMac with a 32-inch display and new design is planned for late 2024 or 2025.
