The company will release a software update
The Asus ROG Ally portable game console as a whole turned out to be very successful, but it has one problem that has already led some users to lose at least money. The fact is that the prefix “kills” microSD memory cards. And now Asus has acknowledged it.
Asus admits ROG Ally is “killing” microSD cards
One of the employees of the company published an official statement from Asus in this regard.
The company says that memory cards can malfunction at certain levels of heat. To solve this problem, Asus intends to release an update in which the fan settings will be changed when operating at minimum speed and in standard mode. That is, apparently, Asus will simply increase the fan speed.
If you look at the photos of the disassembled console, you can see that the microSD slot is located very close to the Ryzen APU, which leads to overheating. The only question is whether increasing the fan speed will really solve the problem.
It is also worth noting that on the Web, users often complain not about malfunctions of the memory card, but about its failure, that is, the console simply “kills” memory cards, and users have to buy new ones.
On the other hand, ROG Ally is equipped with a 512GB SSD, which should be enough for most gamers.
