The reason for this unusual decision is quite simple: Larian Studios doesn’t want their game to clash with Starfield, which launches on September 6th. The developers have previously reported that they cannot yet implement split-screen mode on the Xbox Series S, and Microsoft requires that games come out on Series S and Series X without any gameplay differences. The Microsoft team is helping Larian Studios with optimization, but there is still no approximate date when Baldur’s Gate 3 can be released on Xbox. The developers have previously said that they want to be in time before the end of this year, but it is not clear whether they will succeed.
