On the old platform
Blackview has unveiled the rugged BV8900 smartphone, which offers a giant battery, a thermal imaging camera and more.
The novelty is based on the MediaTek Helio P90 SoC, which cannot be called new or productive. But on the other hand, the smartphone has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory with a microSD slot. Interestingly, the company in a press release in many places lists the amount of RAM as 16 GB, and then explains that 8 GB of it is a virtual expansion. It looks like it’s becoming a new trend.
Blackview BV8900 introduced
An unexpected feature of the smartphone, given its platform, was the screen. Its diagonal is 6.5 inches, and the resolution is 2.4K. There is no exact value, but this is unusual for this class of smartphones. True, there is one but. The manufacturer’s page on Aliexpress lists the resolution as 2400 x 1080 pixels, so perhaps 2.4K is such an original way to specify vertical resolution, which is hardly a good idea.
But there are no questions about the battery capacity. It is an impressive 10,380 mAh, and there is also a 33-watt charger.
The main camera offers a resolution of 64MP and relies on a Samsung ISOCELL GW3 sensor. Plus, this camera has optical stabilization. There is also a thermal imaging camera, and even with a four-fold approximation.
From the rest, we can note support for UWB, Android 12, USB 3.0, loud stereo speakers and, of course, protection against water and dust (IP69K), as well as against physical influences (MIL-STD-810H).
